What soul Jim Harrison had. How he could gather words like wildflowers bursting with such prescient beauty to shear sharp edges of 'civilized' hardened hearts. Thank you.
I wasn't familiar with Harrison's work before reading this but I always admire people who can write with this kind of unsentimental directness. It's poetry but it's almost prose too. I'll keep an eye out for his work.
He's an amazing writer, I believe, one of the best in contemporary times. Here's a little something I wrote about him on the anniversary of his death last month.
As a Michigander, I have always enjoyed Harrison’s references to the Great Lake State noted first in “Wolf”. He’s definitely one of my favorites; not every author can write from the point of view of the opposite sex as he did in “Dalva”, another gem.

So much poetry is opaque to me. Words strung together in ways I’m unable to penetrate. This poem has reality for me.
None of us has really “survived the move” into the world of Western “civilization. Harrison has summed it up succinctly and beautifully.
Beautifully said!
This work certainly hits the spot during these times. Like all great writers Harrison was prophetic. Thank you for featuring this.

An amazing eyes and heart. I love this, and so terribly true. Thank you.
Harrison's poems go directly to one's soul - his thoughts send messages to and through the "deep heart's core"! I love his candour
Another mind melter from the outlaws and you love to read it :)
You poor soul.
