Thank you for sharing this. I woke up this morning, an angry poet. So tired of all the crap. I will go back to the work I know how to do to get through a terrifying time. Writing and reading what other voices say. Living through a dying time.
A wonderful poem … thank you … I’m not sure of the longest suicide note in history but they say that the longest suicide in history was that of Jazz legend Bill Evans ….
The most important question facing
poets of today is
how well would you do
under torture
He's got that right!!!
Lerner is my favourite poet.
Thank you for sharing this one.

Likewise a big fan ... I hadn't heard it before either until I read the wonderful 'Chet's Habit' by Don Paterson ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2iOkjS63S74
a poet should be able to speak the troth
He should be able to tell good from dross
He should be eloquent as a dandy
And still, be able to cuss like a swabbie
He should be able to give out sonnets
And describe a woman's floral bonnet.
He should have a way with words and Rimes
and encourage through the good and bad times.
Mine tend to be clumsy paper airplanes I fear.
“can we change life or only
name its parts”
Wow. This is the question we should all be asking.

Words have such depth. Nice
Why are there so many "most important questions"?
Because the "important questions" in life have no answers.
Intensely thought-provoking, just as Lerner choreographed it.

Stay the course with our thinking…
We are a voice that must be heard …
