Having just experienced the solstice and the December full moon in southern Pacific Mexico... and being a writer for over 45 years... we contemplate the cycle of life, as it never ceases. What catches us up is the disconnect between indigenous wisdom and modern. There are just things that can not be controlled and shouldn't. Fear or grace can blossom in this chasm: likely both.

Joe knows. Yes, indeed. Great post.

In my opinion, mind ages when accumulating knowledge just as the body ages by exhausting its resources and once it does that the will to live decreases. We forget to marvel in front of the beauties surrounding us because we already know what to expect about them. We’ve seen it all so many times before. From this perspective knowledge is a blade with 2 cutting edges… 😉 and life, well it kills the worn out shells to make room for young souls still capable to marvel and learn…

“There is something tremendously

terrifying about life when you look

at it that way.” Some things make sense with the wisdom of getting older. This is one of those pieces through the symbolism of a snake’s journey.

Going through another set of terrors with the body going through initial breakups on reentry stage. With it comes the what the fuck do I care what others think of me and lets fly all the colors. I keep the Henry Miller post of aging in my inbox so I can refer to it constantly.

It's one of my favorite books too. Joseph Campbell appeared on the public's radar at the time I was working as a storyteller. This book, as well as the series of interviews he did with Bill Moyer for PBS, helped me understand the structure and meanings of the stories I was telling. He broke through my mental barrier to go deeper into the metaphors. It was difficult for me, lunkhead that I am, not to take everything at face value, but to see, or at least TRY to see, the understory. He was a marvel and so right for the time.

When the serpent releases its tail, Ragnarök (the final battle of the world) will begin. Sort of like the 2024 elections.
