Reminds me of one of my favourite Henry Miller quotes: “Develop an interest in life as you see it; the people, things, literature, music - the world is so rich, simply throbbing with rich treasures, beautiful souls and interesting people. Forget yourself.”

Hit home as an author who has lost her faith in the Art market, and struggles to keep the faith in Art at all. Still got it, but struggling.

As an artist I spent most of my life life trying to make sense of what this world considered art. At 67 I am now running as far as I can from that idea of fitting in. I have learned to trust my feelings and imagination as never before and find that Emily Dickinson or Hilma af Klint had the right idea all along. They nourished their visions privately and protected them from outside influences which can degrade the impulse to my thinking. I met a younger person years back who was the lead technician for a successful sculptor who had to finally quit because of the unhappiness that grew over the years with this position. He said that it was like living in hell dealing with the big money world and wanted out. At the time I was trying still to fit in and make my mark so to speak as that was what I had done for most of my life and what I knew. Now I can see that I was never going to fit in that world and why suffer keeping on that path? These are my thoughts and I know that they are mine alone but thought to share them for whatever purpose here. Also I dislike philosophical judgements on what makes art worthy. I consider this a personal matter and feel that if the individual finds something in it then it is very worthwhile to do and that is why I will continue making my art. Frankly I get excited when thinking about it and isn't that enough? The world can continue on as it does.

Visit my friend Kate Hooray Osmond on her Instagram page or artist website (she is in the Carolinas)...her message will inspire you. I own one of paintings, sunspec 2...it launched an amazing Visual Anthem poem I wrote, and the synergy of energy she has really spoke to me. Create on!! Create for you. Because you must!!

Yes yes yes. That four letter word LOVE. A powerful wand, warrior weapon, saber and salvation. We seek first: self-connection in expression, grasp at soul speak and wander into self-understanding. May others see, read or feel it in our work, we pray. Messy but true, and often beautiful. Power-packed post. Thank you.
