"The lure of the distant

and the difficult

is deceptive."

Never truer in our stressed out American culture. Go on an expensive vacation! Go on cruise! The rat in wheel keeps running looking for the new, the exotic, the next big purchase.

Gorgeous... thank you, hadn't read it before.... Reminds me of Going to Walden from Mary Oliver: "Going to Walden is not so easy a thing as a green visit. It is the slow and difficult trick of living, and finding it where you are.”

So beautiful. I’ve been reading “cruel optimism” and the books/short stories she mentions in her book and lately the signs are everywhere that All we have is now. There is no hope in the future or things to come, it’s only now we can find peace.

Thanks for sharing your words, Dania. All we have is now, indeed!! Sounds like something a buddhist would say. Yes, the signs are endless. Peace is within us, we just have to find it to maintain our resilience and share it to keep our surroundings and a society healthy. Also, not to roam too long on hope, as we all don’t have the same places and opportunities to have a better life. We do have the power to share kindness to make a better day for anyone we might meet without jugding those who have trouble returning such an act.

A great example of a life of honor are many indigenous tribes that have ancient wisdom, old knowledge and storytelling to keep a community healthy under the chaos of wild life in any jungle. To simply walk side by side with nature to connect with the Earth’s consciousness which is not tangible but it’s seen through out nature.

“The lesson which life constantly repeats is to 'look under your feet.' You are always nearer to the divine and the true sources of your power than you think.”

Truly an excellent choice of words with such simplicity and so much wisdom!

Those two parts reminded me of a question asked once by a hindu to Sadhguru: “What is the best way to meditate?” He said to dig a hole in any piece of soil you might be in, put some magnets in it and put your feet in there to start meditating. Afterwards he started laughing as sign of a joke, with a good intent, clearly. It doesn’t matter where you are, there’s no perfect way to do it, if you are on this Earth you’re blessed, it can be done anywhere.

“The lure of the distant

and the difficult

is deceptive.”

This can be applied to many things. If it’s american culture it could be focused in a variety of ways. I really like american culture but not everything in it is attractive, it’s a melting pot anyways. Someone who could really make an outside the box opinion is Frank Zappa, if you haven’t heard what he has to say you can search “Frank Zappa on American Culture” on you tube.

“The great opportunity is

where you are. Do not despise your own

place and hour.”

The present is without a doubt the best place you can find yourself in. With no constant roaming on the past or even excesive daydreaming (there’s nothing wrong with having dreams, we all aspire to find our place in something we like or at least try to, whatever that may be) of the future.

“Every place is under the stars.

Every place is the center

of the world.”

What a splendid way to portray our existence on this Earth. This lines shows how truth and beauty collide to make us realize how blessed we are just to able to breathe every day. To be able to see the wonders and have experiences on this planet gives us so much even though sometimes we don’t put time aside to stare at the magic of the cosmos.

Like an outage that happened last week in the country where I live. By night time all I wanted to do was stare at the starts with no light contamination, it was so mesmerizing, my only thoughts were about the missing stars I couldn’t see before the power went out. That night I had the chance to put worries away to appreciate the gorgeous display of what was missing but was always there. It even sounds like the presence of the muse in our creative ways. Maybe my words sound silly but maybe there’s something in them someone has to hear some day to put a mind at ease or maybe inspire a spark that gives birth to an idea that ignites the human soul.
