Love this. The train metaphor for civilization is spot-on. Especially in America in 2023, where we’re all incredibly privileged regardless of sex or race, we seem to have found a way to ruin our own success. It’s quite illogical and amazing, the way we’ve managed to find new problems where problems don’t actually exist. Ideology and tribalism die hard. I write about this often.
