Fantastic poem... Read this poem when I was 16 and thought it was cool... Reading it now, 42 years older and wiser, I find it extremely shocking, very hard-hitting...

One scarf will catch and anchor in the wheel."

Isadore Duncan's death was so batshit - this socialite who loved fashion wears a too-long scarf that gets caught under the axle of a car, on a lovely jaunt in the country, and breaks her neck.

Have a soft spot for Plath - a couple very complicated exes loved her. But Ted Hughes book Birthday Letters remains one of my favourite poetry collections.
