It’s 27 degrees right now in Vermont. Just fed the birds suet and seed. Ice on the deck.
I so appreciate this this morning.
Yes Dion snow here in Vermont. Mary Oliver makes me think of course of cape cod and lying in the meadow grass really anywhere.
Exactly
Yes Dian summer is here
What summer fruits I ll choose now ?!
Have you read Letters to a Young Poet by Rilke? Thought you and your subscribers might like it.
What a great poem, love the imagery and so much truth about cold winter months. I feel more alive when winter arrives and more so after reading this.
She was so much more than a nature poet. Deep wisdom from Mary Oliver. Many thanks for this piece.
In my view, Mary Oliver remains very much alive still.
Without doubt!
She was a modern mystic. For those who see it.
Maybe what cold is, is the time
we measure the love we have always had
this is so beautiful.
"we grow cruel but honest" --- incredible. thank you for sharing this.
24° this first November morning and reading Mary Oliver’s poem warmed me up considerably after a four mile walk.
Reading her in these early days of November makes me want to be back in Ohio, crisp air, crunchy/frosty grass!
Beautiful poem. I love it!
Beautiful
Close to the edge. Yes. :)
Great poem.
Coool, one negative about being in Los Angeles is that you lose out on that
Lovely. Thanks!
Wow, honest, rhetorically gutteral, and very American. Watch your step, O warming planet!
Wonderful poem.
