Did Lawrence believe in religious resurrection? Or was he expressing the innate existence of the ability of humans to survive self-destruction and remake themselves in all aspects of humanness living in the present world?
This is such a perfect and beautiful reflection, on this very day that I plopped down on this crazy, topsy-turvy planet 82 years ago. Many thanks for this beautiful outpouring from the master, DH Lawrence. It SO suits me as a spontaneous gift from the universe.
DH Lawrence spent so many years wandering the planet to stand still and bring us the world in all its beautiful and terrible places and moments with his incredible writing.
I have DH Lawrence's poem "New Mexico" tattooed on my leg. This "Be Still!" is one I hadnt read until just now, and it could not be more timely or relevant to what many of us are going through - including myself. Thank you for sharing this.
I can't help but think of this quote from Fight Club:
"Self-improvement is masturbation. Now, self-destruction..." - Tyler Durden
Perhaps we need that "wave of destiny" to really break us down and wash away the parts that never mattered. This wave of destruction is the only thing that can bring geniue personal growth.
And even the sea of seas will have to give up it’s dead! Chills! Letting go of the self to become the essence of why we were always here. ❤️

A great book to understand Lawrence's philosophy is -- Apocalypse: And the Writings on Revelation.
He writes: 'The Resurrection is to life, not to death.'
The latter.
With the capital R on Resurrection, I paused.

This seems to apply on a large scale as a society, and a small scale as we go through changes in our individual lives.

Brilliant
After reading today's post, a song come to mind. Hillsong Worship - Be Still
"Be still and know
That the Lord is in control
Be still, my soul
Stand and watch as giants fall..."

The sea,
Making us see,
Life, let it be,
Making us see,
The sea,
Life in the prairie,
We're here,
Reading the sea,
Thoughts unite,
Let us see,
The sea!
Wow!
This poem reeled me in so quickly that I didn’t feel it happening. Thanks for sharing! Keep doing you.
Damn i needed this! 🙏
As I read this powerful poem I heard in my soul Psalm 46:10. Be still and know that I am God.
I needed that.

"Among all the smashed debris of myself
keep quiet, and wait.
For the word is Resurrection."
This gave me chills. Now this hits in all the right ways.
