I somehow wasn't aware of this poet, but I will certainly immerse myself in his work now. Wonderful mix of sensitivity and muscular language. And thanks to the poetry gods for coffee houses. They're like going to the zoo. Something cool happens there every day.

A beautiful poem that sorta muffles it's bleakness by lovely language. Huff and I hung out a lot in Austin. I wonder if the phrase "lights of the city" references my story collection called "the lights of the city" and about Austin. Probably not. I think the lights are still on, even in that much changed city.
