Good memories, Desert Solitaire was one of the books i read before moving out west to enjoy and explore that amazing landscape firsthand. With Trump's recent order to remove protection status to Bears Ears & Grand Staircase national monuments we need more voices like Abby's more than ever to remind us how valuable these lands are, not only for our own souls but for the soul of america.

Over the years i have given away at least 50 copies if Desert Solitare.
Yesterday I bought a copy for myself as I was out.
I see Abbey and Charles Bowden ever so often circling over my Motorhome in the great Sonoran Desert. What's left of it.
Interesting pairing. Yeah - they do have something in common - they wrote what they wanted to, and if you didn't like it - well...
Abbey and Bowden were forceful "scribblers." I could hear the music in Bowdens poetic rhythm.
Both had a way of making the noise go away till the sound was deafening.
