The more fearless a person is, the less mind he uses. The more fearful a person, the more he uses the mind.
— Osho
I recognize that the Indian spiritual teacher and mystic, Osho, is a controversial figure (most great art and thought were composed by “controversial” figures) but he wrote some marvelous books.
The following is a passage from one of my favorite of his works — Courage: The Joy of Living Dangerously
In this book, Osho explores the concept of courage and its significance in leading a fulfilling life. He encourages the reader to embrace life with boldness, to take some gambles, and to say YES in the face of fear. He also delves into the relationship between courage and joy, suggesting that by living dangerously and stepping out of one's own comfy little lot, we can discover a profound sense of joy and fulfillment.
Osho reminds us that none of us ever know what is going to happen in life. And it’s in this realm of the “unknown” that keeps us continuously in wonder. “Don’t call it uncertainty—call it wonder. Don’t call it insecurity—call it freedom.”
I hope you enjoy the following passage.
YOU WERE BORN AS A NO-MIND. Let this sink into your heart as deeply as possible because through that, a door opens. If you were born as a no-mind, then the mind is just a social product. It is nothing natural, it is cultivated. It has been put together on top of you.
Deep down you are still free, you can get out of it.
